Cabernet Sauvignon

Picked from the rolling vineyards of the Alexander Valley, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. Sumptuous and complex, featuring fragrant dark cherry, blackberry, cassis and anise aromas, and rich, elegant, black fruit flavors.

Fortune 1621 Fresh nose of blackberry, cassis and touches of dried violet. The palate is fullbodied with pure notes of blueberries intermingled with chocolate, caramel and hints of bacon.

For our Ivory Label Cabernet Sauvignon, we combine fruit from appellations as far north as El Dorado and as far south as Paso Robles where some of our vineyards experience diurnal temperature extremes, which slows the ripening process and enhances the rich, succulent flavors of the fruit, as well as the complexity of the palate. Because the crop was extremely light and fruit wasn’t picked until well into fall, the grapes received extended hangtime on the vines, which resulted in greater concentration and body. As a result, our Cabernet exhibits a rich, luscious texture with well-tempered tannins and beautifully layered notes of spice and oak.

Director’s Cabernet Sauvignon offers an enticing fragrance and flavors of plums, berries, cocoa and spices with lingering notes of vanilla toasted oak. Round and ripe with supple tannins. A long growing season because of chilly spring temperatures and heavy rains that delayed bud break. These conditions lightened our crop significantly, but having fewer clusters of fruit on each vine coupled with the extra hang-time that was needed to fully ripen the grapes resulted in intensely fragrant fruit with concentrated and pronounced flavors.

Frank Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a dark almost black core with magenta hues around the rim. The delicate and complex bouquet evokes ripe blueberries, allspice and savory notes along with the scent of sandalwood, black pepper and hints of graphite minerality that frame this expressive wine. The palate echoes the luscious aromas; this wine shows an enormous aging potential.

Much lore surrounds the history of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape and its popularity serves to only make it more mysterious and compelling. Its name is widely thought to stem from the French word ‘sauvage’ meaning ‘wild’ and whether accurate or not this purported origin seems apt for a grape that can be successfully grown in almost any climate. Adding to its allure is the varietal’s affinity for oak aging and the development of bottle bouquet both of which give the wine a long cellar life and complexity. Cabernet produces wines of great length and texture with rich fruit and underlying spice making it a fabulous partner to many cuisines. This Cabernet displays aromas and flavors of plums and blackberries, with layered notes of mocha, toasted pound cake and roasted nuts. This wine has superb complexity.

Gnarly Head our dark, bold Cabernet has solid tannins and jammy fruit, with aromas and flavors of black cherry, currant, dried cranberry and black peppercorn followed by a trio of clove, earth and light toast. Goldschmidt blackberry, black pepper, and plum flavors enveloped in sweet oak. Round and fleshy middle palate, with nice concentration and good structure. Finishes with silky tannins and a hint of spice.

Like the American spirit, our Cabernet Sauvignon has a bold, rugged character. The nose is big and captivating, offering heady dark fruit, cigar box, leather and dried sage. The palate is smooth and supple, with juicy boysenberry and black cherry flavors. It is layered with toasty oak spices, followed by firm tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Pair with big flavors, such as grilled meats or rich pastas.

The Greg Norman Estates Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful crimson color. The wine offers inviting aromas of fresh, ripe boysenberry, blackberry and plum. Secondary aromas of brown spice and fragrant vanilla add a layer of complexity. The full-bodied wine has flavors of juicy berries, clove and a slight candied violet note. This wine is balanced with smooth tannins that are well integrated. The wine has a lingering, cocoa flavor finish.

Hedges deep purple color, yet not opaque. A sense of finesse in the color which suggests liveliness on the palate. The mouth feel is angular, with grace and precision. The vintage produced a savory character in the wines, like that of fennel, salt, tar and steel. Highly integrated tannins, dusty in a sense, alongside protective acidity guarding against premature oxidation.
